Nhat Chieu pagoda in Vinh Phuc province’s Yen Lac district inaugurated its first-phase construction at a ceremony held on December 2.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Vice-Standing Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, monks, nuns from the Central and local VBS, and Buddhist followers from localities.
Central and local guests at the event included Chairman of the Party’s Central Inspection Commission Ngô Văn Dụ, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Hoàng Thị Thúy Loan, Standing Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc provincial People’s Committee Vũ Chí Giang and local authorities’ representatives.
The Nhat Chieu worshipping complex was built a long time ago, and its pagoda was rebuilt in 1680 under Le dynasty in greater scales and upgraded many times.
As the century-old pagoda has been seriously degraded, its reconstruction was started in 2014 and its main worshipping hall and supporting facilities have been completed after over one year construction at an estimated cost of over VND11.2 billion.
