Vinh Long province: unique Buddhist scripture garden in Vietnam

Phuoc Hau pagoda in Tam Binh district has created a garden of stones carved with Buddhist Dhammapada in an area of over 4,000m2 .

Five hundred pages of Buddhist Dhammapada would be carved on two sides of 250 stones; each stone has a thickness of 8-9cm with 1m wide, 1.3m long and about 300kg in weight. Once completed, these carved stones have a shape of eight Bodhi leaves spreading out. Currently the garden has accomplished one Bodhi leaf of stones. The construction of stones garden has a total budget of nearly two billion VND and expected to be completed by June 2015.

Phuoc Hau pagoda was recognized as a national historic relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 1994.
