The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) kicked of the construction Ho Be Cultural Worshipping Center Complex in Soc Trang province’s Vinh Chau provincial city at a solemn ceremony held on May 20.
Attending the ceremony included Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Soc Trang Dương Sà Kha, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee of Soc Trang Ngô Hùng, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS central Executiove Council Thích Giác Toàn, and dignitaries of the VBS chapter in the province.
As reported at the meeting, Ho Be cultural worshipping complex will be built on 20 ha of land with many functioning areas, including Quan Am Dong Hai (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) Pagoda; Buddha Park with Buddhist statues; Peace Park with statues of Peace Buddha, Quang Duc Bodhisattva, Ambedkar Bodhisattva and Saints of Giong, Gandhi, Tran Hung Dao. In addition, once completed there will also be a Vietnamese cultural park, a loving-kindness park and a charity center. The total investment for the cultural worshipping complex is estimated at VND 200 billion.
According to Vic Chairman Ngô Hùng, the construction project aimed to promote tourism in the province, especially ecological and spiritual tourism, through planning and attracting investments to the coastal and Hau River side region.
During the event, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha formally appointed Seniour Venerable Thích Nhật Từ as Abbot of Quan Tam Dong Hai pagoda and presented 50 gift sets to disadvantaged people in the locality.
