The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) chapter in Ho Chi Minh city solemnly inaugurated its new headquarters - Vietnam Quoc Tu pagoda-located in District 10 at a ceremony held on November 7.
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS’s Discernment Council cum Chairman of the city VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Trí Quảng, Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, and large numbers of monks, nuns and followers in the city.
Distinguished guests at the event included Former State President Trương Tấn Sang, Deputy Secretary of the city Party’s Committee Tất Thành Cang and Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Huỳnh Cách Mạng.
The construction of Vietnam Quoc Tu Pagoda was started in 2014 on area of 10,000 m2 with many facilities including the main worshipping hall, the VBS’s administrative building, function halls, guesthouse, accommodations for monks and nuns and underground carpark, etc with the total cost of VND150 billion.
In addition, a 13-storey, 63-metre-high tower is also being constructed up to the 11th floor.
