Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association holds 3rd congress

The Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association successfully convened on May 11-12 its 3rd congress for the 2019-2024 term in Ho Chi Minh city.

The event saw the gathering of 501 delegates representing 1.5 million followers and members of the Association across the country.

Distinguished guests at the event included Director of the Belief and Other Religions under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức and representatives from municipal authorities and other religious organizations (including Hoa Hao Buddhism and Caodaism).

The two-day congress passed the report of the Pure-land Buddhist Association’s activities in the previous term and approved the working plans for the 2019-2024 tenure as well as the amended Charter.

The congress also elected 12 members to the new-term Executive Committee of the Pure-land Buddhist Association with Reverent Nguyễn Văn Tuy as Head of the Executive Committee.

Speaking at the congress, Director Nguyễn Ánh Chứ congratulated the Pure-land Buddhist Association on its achievements over the past years. He also called on the Association to continue encouraging followers to promote fine traditions of the Association as well as make further practical contributions to socio-economic development in the country.
