The Vietnam Mennonite Church (VMC) held its third general conference (the 4th time according to the Church’s history) in Ho Chi Minh City on December 1 - 2.
Attending the conference included 248 delegates who are dignitaries, deacons and followers of the VMC and other 100 observants from 24 provinces and cities across the country. Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Trần Tấn Hùng and representatives of central government and local authorities also joint the opening ceremony.

The two-day general conference took place with the theme “Preserving the unity of the Holy Spirit” and included a spiritual refreshment program, review of the Church’s activities in the 2012-2016 tenure, election of the Church’s Executive Committee for the new term and approval of the working plan for the 2016-2020 period.
Speaking at the conference’s opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Trần Tấn Hùng highly appreciated the Church’s Executive Committee for its efforts in leading the VMC to overcome difficulties and gradually promote pastoral affairs. He also acknowledged contributions of the Church’s dignitaries, deacons and followers in socio-economic development and charity over the past years.
He also expressed hope that the Church would continue promoting fine traditions and making further contributions to the cause of building and defending the country.
The Vietnam Mennonite Church was officially recognized in 2009. Currently, the Church has over 10 thousands of followers from 25 provinces and cities in Vietnam.
