The 1st annual meeting for 2017 of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) took place at Nha Trang Diocese’s pastoral center from August 24-28.
The meeting’s opening ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Chairman of the CBCV Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh, and attended by Archbishop Non-resident Special Envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam Leopoldo Girelli, and 31 bishops from 26 dioceses in the country (including 24 bishops, 2 coadjutor bishops and 5 auxiliary bishops).
The 1st annual meeting focused on discussion of reports of functioning committees under the CBCV, and exchanged pastoral activities of each diocese in the country.
The meeting also elected the CBCV’s new Standing Committee and functioning bodies for the 2016-2019 tenure, as well as approved a general guideline for teaching Catechism in Vietnam.
Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli took the chance to share issues related to the Holy See’ Ministries, as well as inform pastoral activities with Caritas of the Vietnam Catholic Church.

On the occasion of the annual meeting, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Tấn met and extended congratulatory greetings to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam.
