The executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Nghe An province in collaboration with the VBS’s cultural affairs committee held a cultural program “Lotus Scent in Nghe An” on May 20.
Attending the event marking the Vesak Day (2562nd anniversary of the Buddha’s Birthday) and 128th President Ho Chi Minh’s Birthday saw the participation of large numbers of dignitaries and followers of the Buddhist church and representatives of local authorities.
During the event, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Central Executive Council, read the Vesak message of the Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Later those attending the cultural program joint rituals, including release of balloons, to pray for peace and prosperity in the country.
On the occasion, the executive committee of the VBS chapter in Nghe an presented 60 set of gifts to disadvantaged pupils in the locality, VND 10 million to the education promotion fund of Nam Anh commune, as well as gifts to two heroic mothers of Vietnam.
