The Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ministry issued on March 9 a decision announcing eight additional national intangible cultural heritages.
These cultural heritages include Cau bong festival by Kinh people in several districts of Binh Phuoc province; New Rice Festival by Mong people in Yen Bai province’s Mu Cang Chai district; the worshiping painting by Red Dao people in Lao Cai province’s Sa Pa provincial city; the gold and silver laminating and gilding craft village in Kieu Ky commune of Hanoi’s Gia Lam district; the rice-blowing contest in Xuan Phuong ward of Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem district; the craft of making embroidery shoes of the Chinese (Xa Phang) in communes of Ta Sin Thang, Lao Xa Phinh (Tua Chua district), Huoi Leng, Sa Long (Muong Cha district), Phin Ho commune (Nam Po district) of Dien Bien province; a folk dance performance art of the Kho Mu people in Dien Bien Phu City and some districts of Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong, Muong Ang, Tuan Giao, Tua Chua, Muong Cha and Nam Po in Dien Bien province; and Sli songs of Nung people in Xuan Phuong commune of Bac Kan province’s Na Ri district.
The recognized intangible cultural heritages fall into five categories of traditional craftsmanship, traditional festivals, folk performing arts, cultural customs and folk beliefs & knowledge.
Under the decision, localities where the new national intangible cultural heritages were recognized, were required to manage them well in line with the law of cultural heritage.
