Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh extends Vesak greetings to Buddhists establishments in Vietnam South

Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh visited several Buddhist establishments and met with Buddhist dignitaries in Vietnam South on May 7 ahead of the Buddha’s Birthday 2019 (B.E.2563).
Accompanying the Vice President included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà.
Visiting Thuong Chieu monastery located in Dong Nai province, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh extended best wishes to Deputy Patriarch of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Discernment Council Most Venerable Thich Thanh Từ, local Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province. She expressed hope that the Most Venerable and other Buddhist monks and nuns and followers would continue to make practical contributions to the country.

While visiting Pho Minh pagoda in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh city Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh extended happy celebrations of the Buddha’s Birthday to Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm, Buddhist monks and nuns and followers in the city.
During the visit, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh noted that Vietnamese Buddhism has made big steps forward in the international integration process, with offices opened in 33 countries and territories, along with more than 400 Vietnamese pagodas inaugurated worldwide.
The Vice President also stated the hosting of the UN Day of Vesak in Vietnam for the third time this year demonstrates the enhanced position of Vietnamese Buddhism in the international arena.

On the same day, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh visited and met with the Central Executive Committee of the Pure-Land Buddhist Association based in Hung Minh Tu temple in district No.6, Ho Chi Minh city.
While extending best wishes to dignitaries and followers of the Pure Land Buddhist Association on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday 2019, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh spoke highly of medical charities offered by the Buddhist Association over the past years.
