The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee on January 19 held a funeral for Most Venerable Thanh Đàm, Deputy Patriarch of the Discernment Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), who passed way a day prior at the age of 98 in Hoa Lac pagoda located in Ninh Binh province’s Kim Son district.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, President of the Central Fatherland Front Committee Đỗ Văn Chiến on January 19 paid homage to the late VBS deputy patriarch.
The VFF official was accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyễn Lam, and Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc.
During the visit, the VFF official laid a wreath and, offered incense for paying respects to the late VBS leader.

Writing in the funeral guest book, President Đỗ Văn Chiến conveyed his sincere sympathy to the VBS and Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers for their loss and urged them to learn from Most Venerable Thích Thanh Đàm to together build and unite a strong VBS, contributing more and more to national construction and defence.
