On December 22, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyễn Thiện Nhân paid a Christmas visit to the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC).
Joining the visit included Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyễn Đắc Vinh, Chief of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs’ Office Dương Văn Khá, and representatives of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization and Vietnam Women’s Union.
While sending Christmas wishes to Catholic dignitaries, clergymen, clergywomen and followers across the country, President Nguyễn Thiện Nhân extended congratulated the CSVC for successful organizing the 4th national conference to honor good examples among the Catholics in Ho Chi Minh city.
He also acknowledged positive contributions of CSVC to the campaign “All people unite to build cultural life of residential areas”, and participation with the VFF Central Committee and other religions in overcoming the consequences of environmental pollution.
In early December 2015, the VFF Central Committee and 39 religious organizations of 14 religions across the country signed a coordination program for the first time to share a common voice over environmental issues, he added.
Speaking to the guests, Priest Vice Chairman of CSVC Joseph Trần Tuấn Mạnh highlighted that the CSVC is a social organization of Catholics, operating under the pastoral direction of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam “Living the Gospel within the nation, bringing happiness to the people”.
