VFF leader attends the funeral held for Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh

Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Lê Bá Trình led a delegation on July 28 to attend the funeral held for Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh in Thi Nghe Church in Ho Chi Minh City.

Former President of the VFF Huỳnh Đảm and large numbers of scholars, intellectuals and religious dignitaries also joint the delegation.

Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh died on July 27 at the age of 81 in Thong Nhat Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. He was born on September 13, 1935 in Luong Hoa commune, Long An province’s Ben Luc district. He was ordained as a priest on April 23, 1963 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh has held many high-ranking posts, including Vice President of the VFF, Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity of Ho Chi Minh city, Deputy of the 5th and 6th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council (1995 - 1999) and (1999-2004).

Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh has been awarded many titles of honor for his contributions to national unity and socio-economic development in the country, including the Independence Order, second class and the Order for Great National Unity.

On July 29, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Tấn Hùng also led a delegation to attend the funeral ceremony for Priest Peter Nguyễn Công Danh.
