The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee held on August 22 an exchange meeting with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s executive committee in Ho Chi Minh city.

Attending the event included Head of the VFF Central Committee’s Department for Southern Affairs Committee in Ho Chi Minh city Trần Kim Yến and Most Venerable Thích Lệ Trang, Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in the city.
As reported at the event, during Vu Lan Festival 2022, the VBS’s executive committee in the city contributed one billion VND to the fund for poor, and presented 1,000 support supplies, worth 1.2 billion to individuals and households affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the VBS chapter in the city received over 130 billion VND for social charities as well as encouraged Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers in the city to proactively join environment protection and climate change adaption.
During the event, Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Quý, Vice Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in the city asked the VFF in the city for supporting the city VBS’s executive committee in applying for certificates of religious land use rights, especially approval for construction and repair of Buddhist monasteries.
Speaking at the event, Chairwoman Trần Kim Yến expressed hope that the city VBS’s executive committee would continue encouraging monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to actively response movements launched by the municipal VFF committee.
