VBS’s Chapter in An Giang reviews six-month activities

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in An Giang province reviewed its performance in the first six months of 2017 at a conference held on July 10 at Phuoc Hue Pagoda located in the province’s Long Xuyen city. 

The event was presided over by Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in An Giang province Thích Huệ Tài and attended by dignitaries from the district-level VBS’s executive board in the province, and large numbers of monk and nuns in the locality.

Distinguished guests at the conference included Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Nguyên Châu and local authorities’ representatives.

As reported at the reviewing conference, in the first six months of 2017, the VBS’s Chapter in An Giang recorded many good results in religious affairs, including the successful organization of the provincial VBS’s Chapter’s Congress, the Buddha’s Birthday Festival 2017 (B.E. 2561) at Vien Quang Pagoda based in Chau Doc city, an administrative training for 140 Buddhist dignitaries from the management board of 66 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas in the province, and the summer retreat course at Buu Son Pagoda in Tinh Bien district. The provincial VBS’s Chapter also contributed nearly VND 9 billion to social, charitable activities in the locality.
