VBS signs cooperation agreement in releasing, regenerating & protecting aquatic resources

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Lao Cai province and the Agriculture and Rural Development Department has signed a cooperation agreement in releasing, generating and protection aquatic resources in Lao Cai province for 2022-2025 period.

The cooperation agreement aimed to raise awareness and responsibilities, and mobilize resources of Buddhist monks, nuns, lay followers and people in the province in releasing, generating and protection aquatic resources, contributing to the restoration and regeneration of aquatic resources, as well as guiding local Buddhist monks, nuns, lay followers and people to release useful aquatic breeds for the ecological environment and the social life.
Key contents of the cooperation agreement include dissemination of the Party and the State’s guidelines and policies on regeneration and development of aquatic resources, the protection of endangered and rare aquatic species and aquatic species of the locality; communication on lists of invasive alien species or potentially invasive alien species that are not allowed to be released, etc.
Accordingly, propaganda forms of the agreement consist of building propaganda materials on mass media, putting contents of protecting on aquatic resources into lectures for local Buddhist monks, nuns and followers, and mobilizing local Buddhist to sign commitments that not catching, transporting, keeping or trading endangered, rare and endangered aquatic species that would be incorporated in training courses, retreats, and Buddhists activities of Buddhist worshipping places, etc.
During the 2016-2020 period, the Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the provincial VBS and concerning agencies has organized 12 releases of breeds to regenerate aquatic resources, with 1.6 million aquatic breeds, and many propaganda activities on releasing, regenerating and protecting aquatic resources, contributing to restoration and regeneration of local aquatic resources.
