VBS reviews Buddhist affairs in Southern region

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council held on November 23 in Ca Mau province a conference to review its Buddhist affairs in the Southern part of Hau River.

The event taking place at the office of the VBS Executive Committee in Ca Mau province based in Phat To pagoda saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Secretary cum Chief of the VBS’s Southern Office Thích Huệ Thông and representatives of the VBS executive committees in provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Hau Giang and Can Tho city.

Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Director of the Southern Religious Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trà Quang Thanh and leaders of the provincial – level religious committees of Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Vinh Long and Can Tho city.

The conference discussed the implementation of the Law on belief and religion and its guiding Decree 162 including the registration of religious practices for Buddhist followers, the conversion of private houses into Buddhist worshipping facilities, the fire safety at worshipping places etc.
