The Central Youth Union launched a charitable program for sending necessities to disadvantaged people during the Covid-19 pandemic at a ceremony held on April 22 in Hanoi.
The launching ceremony saw the presence of Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee Trương Thị Ngọc Ánh, Senior Venerable General Secretary cum Vice President of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Thích Đức Thiện, and Secretary of the Youth Union Nguyễn Anh Tuấn.
During the ceremony, the central VBS has presented 100 scholarships, each worth two million VND, to disadvantaged students from ethnic minority groups.
The charitable program named “sharing the love and joining hand for overcoming the pandemic” will send daily necessities, create employment opportunities and provide learning conditions to disadvantaged people, including unemployed youth who loss their job in industrial areas during the epidemic time, disadvantaged youth and students in rural and urban areas, and people with serious illnesses.
The program started on April 22 will run until the end of the epidemic in the community.
