Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee solemn held on August 1 a ceremony to celebrate VBS’s 35th founding anniversary (November 7, 1981 – November 7, 2016) at Vinh Trang Pagoda in My Tho city.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee Thích Huệ Minh, representatives of the VBS executive board from 11 local cities and districts in the province and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the locality.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Thanh Đức, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Huỳnh Văn Phương.
At the event, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp read the message of the VBS’s Patriarch on 35th founding anniversary and Venerable Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Giác Nhân recalled the development of the provincial VBS Executive Committee since its establishment in 1985
On this occasion, five Buddhist collectives and seven individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the VBS Executive Council for their practical contributions in social and charitable activities from 1985 to 2016. The provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee also presented certificates of merit to the provincial VBS Executive Committee for honoring its social, charitable contributions.
