A delegation led by Venerable Thích Thiền Bình, Head of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Board in Quang Ninh district of the central province of Quang Binh paid on October 10 a visit to An Ninh commune severely flooded in the district.
During the visit, Venerable Thích Thiền Bình and accompanying Buddhists presented 170 gift sets, valued at 15 million VND in total, to people in the commune. Each gift set contains noodle, cooking oil and fresh water.
As reported, An Ninh commune has been the most flood-stricken area in Quang Ninh district where over 600 houses and community facilities including local schools, health center and roads have been submerged, and locals had to travel by boats.
This is the first relief effort been made to people in the flooded commune, with practical supplies sent to affected locals. Venerable Thích Thiền Bình informed that the VBS executive board in the district would continue to raise and collect supports for helping people in the flood-stricken area.
