VBS in Ninh Binh holds requiem for heroic martyrs

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s executive committee in collaboration with the Youth Union in Ninh Binh province held on July 14 a solemn requiem to pay tribute to heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

Attending the event taking place in the Bai Dinh Pagoda’s international conference center included Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh, Chairman of the provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization Mai Văn Tuất, representatives from provincial committee for religious affairs and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s committee, relatives of war invalids and fallen heroes, over 100 local youths and large numbers of  Buddhists and locals participating in Buddhist summer course in the pagoda.

During the event, participants performed incense-offering to pay tribute to forefathers who made great contributions to national construction and defense, and joint Buddhist rituals of candlelight vigil and prayers to commemorate heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national liberation and peace.

This event has been annually organized by the provincial VBS’s executive committee on occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
