The 7th general conference for the 2021 – 2026 tenure of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in An Giang province’s Long Xuyen city was successfully held on January 8.
The event taking place in Binh An pagoda in My Binh ward, Long Xuyen city saw the presence of members of the provincial VBS Discernment Council, the provincial VBS Executive Committee, representatives from local authorities and delegates representing Buddhist followers in the locality.
The conference elected 13 members of the city’s VBS Executive Board for the new tenure with Senior Venerable Thích Thường Tấn re-elected as its Head.
The event also approved the working plans of the VBS’s Executive Board for the 2021-2026 tenure.
Long Xuyen city currently is home to over 110,000 Buddhist followers with 25 Buddhist worshipping establishments.
