According to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Hanoi, the 2565th anniversary of the Buddha’s Birthday will be held on May 25, 2021 (the fourteenth day of the fourth lunar month) at the cultural center in the city.
The event organization was announced at a meeting chaired by Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the VBS Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS executive committee in Hanoi held on April 17.
Accordingly, the 2565th Birthday of Buddha Shakyamuni in Hanoi would feature Buddhist preaching, art performances, candlelit, fish release, and charity activities, etc.
After the 2565th anniversary of Buddha’s Birthday, the Buddhist summer retreat 2021 for monks and nuns in Hanoi will start on May 27 (the 16th of the fourth lunar month) and conclude on August 28 (the 16th of the seventh lunar month).
Earlier, the VBS central executive council on April 1st issued guidelines for the organization of the 2565th anniversary of the Buddha’s Birthday, asking VBS executive committees in provinces and cities and Buddhist worshiping places to make decisions of the event organization based on practical situations of the Covid-19 pandemic in localities, and enhance the Covid-19 epidemic prevention during all celebrations of the important Buddhist event.
