A reviewing conference for Buddhist affairs in 2019 of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) was held on December 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, members of the VBS’s Executive Council and representatives from the VBS’s executive committee in the provinces and cities.
Distinguished guests at the event included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng and representatives from central agencies and municipal authorities.
The conference reviewed and discussed the VBS’s performance in 2019 including the successful organization of the UN Day of Vesak 2019 hosted in Ha Nam province, as well as pointed out the working plan of the VBS in 2020.
As reported at the event, the VBS contributed 2,405 billion VND to social charities in 2019.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng hailed achievements in Buddhist affairs of the VBS in 2019 and stated that the success of UN Day of Vesak 2019 has contributed to promote the solidarity of Vietnamese Buddhists. He also asked the VBS continue consolidating the Church apparatus, improving the quality of Buddhist training, preaching true Buddhist teachings and enhancing the Buddhist external affairs.

On the occasion, the VBS’s central executive council and eight Buddhists were presented with certificates of recommendation of the Prime Minister for their outstanding contributions to the success of the UN Day of Vesak 2019.
