From Oct. 16 - 18, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Buddhist Guidance Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Hanoi city and Phat Quang pagoda in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province held a training camp for young Buddhists across the country.
Attending the opening ceremony of the training camp held on Oct. 16 was Most Venerable Member of the Discernment Council cum Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Duyên, Most Venerable Vice-Standing Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, and Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Buddhist Guidance Committee cum Head of the Organization Committee of the training camp Thích Thanh Điện.
State officials at the opening ceremony included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ministry cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng, Youth Union Central Committee Secretary Nguyễn Phi Long, representatives of concerning agencies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phạm Dũng stated that this is a great opportunity for young Buddhists to exchange Buddhist knowledge and experiences, contributing to promote Buddhist values for the socio-economic development in the country.
The training camp for Buddhist youth took place at Vietnam Buddhism Institute in Soc Son district, Hanoi city from Oct. 16 to 18, 2015, with the participation of over 2,000 young Buddhists across the country.
At the three-day training event, young Buddhists learnt current life issues, youth with love and marriage, Buddhist learning and practice, etc.
