VBS holds Buddhist cultural festival in Nghe An province

A Buddhist cultural festival was held on May 8 at Dai Tue Pagoda in Nghe An province’s Nam Dan district.

The festival held with the theme “Lotus scent in Nghe An”, was co-organized by the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee and the VBS Central Committee for Cultural Affairs on the occasion of VBS’s 35th founding anniversary and 5th establishment anniversary of Nghe An provincial VBS. 

Buddhist dignitaries attending the festival included Most Venerable Member of the VBS Discernment Council Thích Thanh Đàm, Vice Chairman of the VBS Central Committee for Buddhist Guidance Thích Chơn Không and Venerable Deputy Chief of the VBS Central Office Thích Thanh Huân.

The event saw participation of Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà, Director of the Office of State President’s Legal Department Bùi Thị Keng and representatives of Nghe An provincial authorities.

The Buddhist cultural festival took place with a wide range of cultural activities, including proclamation of Vesak’s message, birthday anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh, and prayers and lantern release for peace, etc.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Bùi Thanh Hà hailed practical contributions made by the VBS and Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in Nghe An province, contributing to the strengthening of the national unity and religious solidarity, as well as social development and prosperity in the province in the recent years.
