VBS executive board in Vinh city holds first general meeting

The first general meeting for the 2018-2023 tenure of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) executive board in Vinh city was successful held on September 5 at Diec pagoda located in Nghe An province’s Vinh city.

The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS chapter in Nghe An province Thích Thanh Nhiễu, representatives from local authorities, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the locality.

The event reviewed Buddhist affairs in the city over the past seven years and approved working plans of the first VBS executive board in the city for the 2018-2023 tenure. Currently, Vinh city currently has nearly 7,000 Buddhist followers and six pagodas.

During the general meeting, the local authorities handed over the decision approving the VBS executive board in Vinh city and the provincial VBS executive committee announced the decision approving the five-member VBS executive board in the city for the first term  2018– 2023 headed by Senior Venerable Thích Thọ Lạc.

On this occasion, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee presented certificates of merit to Senior Venerable Thích Thọ Lạc and Nun Thích nữ Diệu Nhẫn for their practical contributions in patriotic movements in the locality. The VBS executive committee in the province also handed over certificates of merit to five Buddhist groups for their outstanding achievements in Buddhist affairs.
