A delegation from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Clergy Education Committee led by Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thanh Quyết visited on January 5 the Buddhist College in Tien Giang province.
Welcoming the delegation included Most Venerable Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial VBS Thích Huệ Minh, Director of the college and local Buddhist dignitaries, and 178 monks and nuns studying at the Buddhist College.
Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê also joint the visit meeting.
It’s reported that the visit is part of the delegation’s working trip to Buddhist colleges in the southwest region for better understanding the implementation of the VBS’s three-year training program for monks and nuns at the Buddhist colleges.
Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết who is also Vice President of Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Hanoi thanked local authorities for supports and favorable conditions extended to the college over the past years and praised practical contributions by the college in training of Buddhist clergy in Vietnam. He also encouraged monks and nuns to improve Buddhist teachings according to the motto of the VBS “for Dharma and Nation”.
