Attending the event were Most Venerable Deputy Secretary of VBS Discernment Council Thích Thanh Dũng, Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, representatives from the VBS’s executive committee in Northern provinces and cities, and large numbers of monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

The congress focused on discussion of results of social, religious activities of the Buddhist Chapter in the province in the 3^rd term (2012-2017) and outlined working plans for next term. The event also elected 39 members to the new-term VBS Executive Committee in the province for the 2017-2022 tenure, with Most Venerable Thích Thanh Duệ reelected as the Committee Chairman.

As reported at the event, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province have contributed a total value of over VND 50 billion to social charities for the past five years.
