Attending the congress included Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Gia Quang, Buddhist dignitaries from the Central VBS’s Executive Council, representatives from the VBS’s executive committee in Northern provinces, and over 400 delegates representing monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

Distinguished guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Dương Ngọc Tấn, Former Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Thế Doanh and Chairman of Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Council Bùi Xuân Hòa.

The congress approved reports on performances of the VBS Chapter during the 3^rd term and working plans for the 2017-2022 tenure. The event also elected 41 members to the VBS Chapter’s Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 tenure, with Senior Venerable Thích Nguyên Thành reelected as the committee Chairman.

On the occasion, the provincial VBS Chapter received the Third-class Labor Medal from the State President. The Central VBS’s Executive Council and the provincial People’s Committee also handed over certificates of merit to Buddhist groups and individuals for their outstanding contributions in Buddhist affairs and social charities.
