The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Ninh Thuan province held its year-end meeting on January 12.
The event saw the participation of Senior Venerable Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Hạnh Thể, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and, abbots and abbesses of the pagodas in the province.
Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Tấn Thuyên was amongst local authorities’ representatives at the meeting.
As reported at the meeting, in the past year, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province actively participated in local movements for building charity houses, supporting poor people, donating wheelchairs to people with disabilities, presenting scholarships to poor and excellent students, etc, with the total contribution of over VND 4.3 billion.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tấn Thuyên praised local Buddhist dignitaries and followers for their contributions to the socio-economic development in the locality in 2017.
