The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Khanh Hoa province solemnly started the opening ceremony of a grand Buddhist ordination on October 17 at its office based in Long Son pagoda.
Attending the event included Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Discernment Council Thích Thiện Duyên, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Ngộ Tánh, large numbers of monks and nuns from provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Thua Thien Hue, etc.
Local guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Hữu Vinh and representatives from local authorities.
The ordination concluded on October 19 and conducted Buddhist rites for the ordainment of 96 bhiksu, 95 novice monks, 24 bhiksuni, 38 Siksamanana and 55 novice nuns.
