Attending the congress were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn and 300 delegates representing monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

Local guests at the event included Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Trần Công Chánh and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đồng Văn Thanh.

The congress discussed results of social and religious activities of the VBS Chapter in the past term and approved working plans for the 2012-2017 tenure.

As reviewed at the event, Buddhist dignitaries and followers contributed over VND 25 billion to social charities in the locality including financial and medical supports to the poor and people with disabilities and building of new rural roads, etc.

The one-day event also elected 50 members to the new-term VBS Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 tenure, with Most Venerable Thích Huệ Đức reelected as the Committee Chairman.
