Attending the event were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn and 400 delegates representing Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

Distinguished guests at the congress included Former State Vice President Nguyễn Thị Doan and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Phạm Sỹ Lợi.

The two-day congress elected 47 members to VBS Executive Committee for 2017–2022 tenure with Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết reelected as the Committee Chairman.

Chairman Phạm Sỹ Lợi presents certificates of merit to Buddhist groups and individuals.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to eight Buddhist groups and 17 individuals for social contributions over the 2012-2017 term. The provincial VBS Executive Committee was also awarded a certificate of merit by the Central VBS for outstanding achievements in Buddhist affairs.
