VBS Chapter in Dong Nai holds mass Buddhist ordination ceremony

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Dong Nai province solemnly started a grand Buddhist at the ordination opening ceremony held on October 9 at Tri Duc Zen monastery in the province’s Long Thanh district.       

Attending the event’s opening ceremony included Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Discernment Council Thích Trí Quảng, Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Head of the provincial VBS Thích Nhật Quang, members of the VBS Chapter’s Executive Committee in the provinces of Binh Duong, Quang Nam, Long An, Yen Bai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, and nearly 4,000 Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in localities.

Distinguished guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Tấn Hùng and representatives from the concerning central agencies and local authorities.

The event will last until October 12 for over 2,600 Buddhists to be ordained as novice monks, novice nuns, bhiksu, bhiksuni and Siksamanana, as well as over 1,200 people to make Buddhist vows, including the Ten good deeds and the Bodhisattva vow.
