The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Dak Nong province convened its 3rd congress on June 8 with the participation of over 700 delegates representing monks, nuns and followers in the locality.
As reported at the congress, the Buddhist Chapter in the province in the 2nd term 2012-2017 considerably strengthened its apparatus with the establishment of the VBS management board in five districts and development of 17 Buddhist establishments, bringing the total number of Buddhist worshipping places in the province to 40. During the past five years, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province also contributed a total value of over VND 20 billion to social charities.
The one-day congress elected 51 members to the new-term VBS Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 tenure in the province, with Most Venerable Thích Quảng Tuấn reelected as the Committee Chairman.
On this occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merit to Buddhist groups and individuals for their social and charitable contributions during the 2012-2017 term.
