VBS Chapter in Ca Mau convenes 7th congress

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Ca Mau province held on September 23 the 7th congress at Sac Tu Quan Am monastery located in Ca Mau provincial city.

The event saw participation of Most Venerable President of VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Buddhist dignitaries from the central and provincial VBS and a large number of delegates representing Buddhists in the locality.

The congress discussed results of social, religious activities of the VBS Chapter in the province in the 6th term (2012-2017) and approved working plans for the 2017-2022 tenure. As reported at the event, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province have contributed a total value of over VND 70 billion to social charities over the past five years.

The one-day event also elected 53 members to the VBS’s Executive Committee in the province for the 2017 – 2022 tenure with Venerable Thích Huệ Thành nominated as the Committee Chairman.

On this occasion, the central VBS and the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to Buddhist groups and individuals for outstanding contributions in social and religious activities over the past years.
