The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter’s Executive Committee in Ben Tre province held on October 19 a ceremony to celebrate the VBS’s 35th founding anniversary at Vien Minh Pagoda in the province.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ben Tre province Thích Nhựt Tấn, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers in the locality. Representatives of local authorities also joint the opening ceremony of the event.
The VBS Chapter in Ben Tre province was officially established in 1989. Currently, the province is home to over 700 Buddhist monks and nuns with 257 pagodas, monasteries and worshipping temples.
