The 6th congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Ben Tre province took place on March 18.
Attending the event included Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Vice President of the Council Thích Thiện Pháp, Most Venerable Chairman of the Executive Committee of the VBS’s Chapter in Ben Tre province Thích Nhựt Tấn, and 500 delegates representing Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province.
The Buddhist congress reviewed results of religious and social activities of the Buddhist executive committee and Buddhist followers in the province during the 2012-2017 tenure. According to the congress report, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province contributed over VND 122 billion to social charities in the last five years.
The one-day event also selected 57 delegates to the provincial Buddist excutive committee for the 6th term (2017-2022) with Most Venerable Thích Nhựt Tấn reappointed as the committee Chairman.
