The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Ha Tinh province held on July 30 the 5th conference for honoring examples of “good people, good deeds” in Catholic communities in the locality during period 2015 - 2020.
The event saw the presence of Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Chairman of the Catholics solidarity committee, representatives from the provincial Fatherland front committee and provincial commission for mass mobilization, and 90 typical Catholic followers in the province.
At responded at the conference, Ha Tinh has currently about 164,706 Catholics, accounting for 12.8% of the provincial population.
During period 2015 – 2020, in response to the campaign "All people unite to build new-style rural and civilized city, living good life – good religion," launched by the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, Catholic parishes and communities in the province have voluntarily donated land for expanding village roads, the irrigation system and planning cemeteries.
In addition, Catholics in the province have practically helped each other to develop families businesses and become rich. Many Catholic families currently run businesses with a profit of VND 500 million to one billion per year. Over 18,568 Catholics families have an income of over 70 million per year.
Besides, Catholics in Ha Tinh have practically contributed to social programs and movements launched in the locality. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Catholic establishments and followers in the province have donated over 950 million VND in cash and necessities for the prevention and control work.
During the event, the provincial Fatherland front committee and the Catholics solidarity committee praised and presented certificates of recommendation to 14 Catholic groups and 14 Catholic individuals for their practical contributions and outstanding achievements in the province./.
