Traditional New Year ritual of Cham people in Binh Nghia village recognized as national intangible cultural heritage

A ceremony for receiving the certificate recognizing "New Year ritual of the Cham people in Binh Nghia village" as a national intangible cultural heritage took place on May 22 in Bac Son commune of Ninh Thuan province’s Thuan Bac district.

Representatives of Bac Son commune receive recognition certificate of national intangible cultural heritage for "New Year Ritual of Cham people in Binh Nghia village"

The event was co-organized by the provincial Department of Culture, Sport, Tourism and Thuan Bac district People’s Committee.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued on February 3, 2021 Decision No. 606/QD-BVHTTDL approving the "New Year ritual of the Cham people in Binh Nghia village" into the list of national intangible cultural heritages.

The annual New Year ritual of the Cham ethnic in Binh Nghia village aims to pray for peace and happiness, favorable weather and good crops, contribute to preserving and recreating unique cultural values ​​and meeting the spiritual needs of the Cham community in Binh Nghia village in particular and a part of Cham people in the province in general.
