On April 18, Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held a preparatory meeting for the Buddha’s Birthday festival and Summer retreat course 2016 (B.E. 2560) at Vinh Trang Pagoda.
The conference was chaired by Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Huệ Minh and attended by Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS Executive Board from eleven districts in the province.
Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Mai and representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee also joint the event.
The meeting discussed and approved the time frames for the two important annual Buddhist events. Accordingly, the Buddha’s Birthday festival will take place from May 14 to 20, and the Summer retreat course 2016 will be opened on May 23 for about 470 Buddhist monks and nuns, and be held at four places, two places for monks and remaining places for nuns.
