The Social Charity Board under the Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held a conference to review charity activities 2014 and approve plans for 2015 on Dec 23.
The conference took place in Tinh Nghiem pagoda, My Tho city and attended by Most Venerable Thích Hoằng Đức, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang VBS Standing Committee, and Buddhist Monks, Nuns, followers and benefactors. As reported at the conference, the total value of charity activities conducted by the Charity Board in 2014 was VND 7,053,625,000. These activities included building 27 loving houses, providing 200 meals daily for poor people, implementing 108 eye surgeries for blind people in the locality, presenting 6 wheelchairs for people with disabilities, providing free health-checks and medicines to 2,000 poor patients, taking care free of charge of over 250 poor children by Tinh Nghiem preschool…
On this occasion, the provincial VBS Executive Committee presented Citation of Merit Awards for individuals and organizations for their practical contributions to charity activities in 2014./.
