Thousands of visitors and local people attended the opening ceremony of the Thuong Temple Festival 2019 held on February 19 in northern Lao Cai province.
The festival is annually organized on the 15th day of the first lunar month. The event dedicated to General Trần Quốc Tuấn – the famous general of Tran Dynasty who commanded the Dai Viet troops in defense in Lao Cai frontier in 1257.
The festival this year opened with a palanquin procession and incense offerings to expressed gratitude to General Trần Quốc Tuấn as well as the epic art program showing the history of Thuong temple and the development of Lao Cai city. The event also featured a series of cultural and sports activities.
