Three religious dignitaries elected as deputies to Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council for 2021-2026 tenure

The Ho Chi Minh city Election Commission announced on June 1 the election result and the list of elected candidates for the city municipal People's Council for 2021- 2026 tenure.  

Accordingly, at 32 polling stations, Ho Chi Minh city have 94 delegates out of the total of 158 candidates elected to the municipal People's Council.

Female deputies are 41, four are non-Party members; 17 deputies are under 40 years old, three deputies are under 35 years old; one deputy is an ethnic minority; three are religious followers; 45 deputies are reelected and one self-nominated deputy.

Three religious dignitaries elected the 10th Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council for the 2021-2026 tenure are namely Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Quý (Huỳnh Văn Phương), Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Central Executive Council, Vice Chairman cum Secretary of the city VBS Chapter; Senior Venerable Thích Minh Thành (Nguyễn Văn Thưởng), Member of the VBS Central Executive Council cum Vice President of the Vietnam Institute for Buddhist Studies, and Priest Martin Trần Quang Vinh, Head of Tac Roi parish in Tan Phu ward, District 7.
