Over 10,000 people are expected to join a grand requiem for traffic accident victims to be held on November 11, according to a press meeting on November 2.
As reported at the press meeting co-organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and National Traffic Safety Committee, the Buddhist requiem with the message "in commemoration of the departed and support of the relatives” is one of activities in response to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims initiated by the United Nations”, and will take place in Hoi An pagoda in the Southern Vietnamese province of Binh Duong
On this occasion, the VBS will present 20 gift sets to 20 most serious traffic accidents.
According to Deputy Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuất Việt Hùng, more than 6,827 people were killed and 13,281 others injured in 16,167 traffic accidents in the first ten months of this year, and, in addition to coordinating to the Vietnam Buddhist church, the National Traffic Safety Committee will coordinate with other religions to raise the public awareness on traffic safety amongst religious communities in the country.
