Khuc Thuy pagoda, located in Cu Khe commune, Hanoi city’s Thanh Oai district, is known to be built in 1010 and has been listed as a national historical site since 1991.

The pagoda has been upgraded several times. However, it is reported that some facilities of the pagoda including the Three Jewels, the forecourt and triple gate have been destroyed, and the system of Buddha statues in the Three Jewels was repainted with ancient pseudo-colors, as well as many other changes as compared with to the original temple.

According to a 80-year-old man Đặng Cát Lương, the local who has made great contributions in the conservation of ancient relics in Khuc Thuy village many years ago, currently, only the Three Jewels still retains its ancient appearance, while ancient well, lake and tower tombs in the back garden have been leveled and relocated.

Venerable Abbot of the pagoda since 1997 Thích Minh Thanh, the monk who has taken the main responsibility for restoring the pagoda since 2010, confirmed that the current status of the pagoda has come from the restoration process for the period of  from 2010 to present.

So far, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just asked Thanh Oai district authorities to explain the repair and upgrade of ancient Khuc Thuy Pagoda.
