The Vietnam Catholics newspaper receives the First-class Labor Medal

On July 2nd, 2014, at National Assembly Guest House (No 27A Trần Hưng Đạo street, Hà Nội), the Vietnam Catholics newspaper held a ceremony to celebrate 30th founding anniversary and received the First-class Labor Medal. 

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyễn Lam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Pastor Nguyễn Công Danh, Vice Chairman  of the Central Committee of VFF, Chairman of Vietnam’s Catholic Solidarity Committee (VCSC); representatives from Party’s Central Commission for Mass Mobilization, Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Information and Communication; and scholars, researchers; former leaders, journalists, newspaper editors of the newspaper.

At the opening of conference, Mr. Vũ Thành Nam, General Editor delivered an anniversary speech to celebrate the founding of Vietnam Catholics newspaper. Vietnam Catholics newspaper was established in 1984 upon its initial organization as Righteousness (Chính Nghĩa) newspaper (1955-1983), which has been the mouthpiece of the VCSC and the organization to launch Catholic patriotic movements.

On behalf of the State, Mr. Nguyễn Lam awarded the First-class Labor Medal to the newspaper as an encouragement and recognition of the newspaper’s contribution to the cause of building and defending the home country. Priest Nguyễn Công Danh also awarded the Medal of Ethnic Solidarity to Mr. Trần Văn Công, former General Editor of the newspaper.

On this occasion, the Editorial Board also held a scientific seminar with the theme "Vietnam Catholics Newspaper – the stage for the cause of building and defending the home country”./.
