The Kathina robe ceremony held at Khmer pagoda in Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups

On October 19th, 2014 the Kathina robe ceremony, one of most important festival of Theravada Buddhism was solemnly held at the Khmer pagoda in Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups (Dong Mo commune, Son Tay, Hanoi) with full rituals of Theravada Buddhism.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mr. Lê Bá Trình, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council; Most Venerable Thạch Sok Xane, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council and large numbers of monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Most Venerable Thạch Sok Xane, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council highlighted the important meanings of the presence of a Khmer pagoda in Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups in the preservation and promotion of cultural characteristics of Khmer people.
This was the first time the Kathina robe ceremony was organized in Hanoi by monks, nuns and Buddhist followers with full and colorful characteristics of Khmer people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà expressed his hope that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Management Committee of the Village will introduce the diversity of Vietnam’s beliefs and religions to people in the country and aboard contributing to promote the image of the peacefully country and the friendly people of Vietnam and its Buddhism.
