07/18/2014

On July 11, 2014, the Dai An chapter under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (Southern) in Quang Nam province held a ceremony for its 90th founding anniversary. Attending the ceremony were leaders from local authorities, Protestant dignitaries and followers in the locality.

The ceremony program consists of singing of hymns, praying, preaching and expression of gratitude. The Dai An chapter was established in the early 20th century. Protestantism was brought into Thuong Duc district through newspapers and books by the Public Association of Holy Poetry (Thánh Thơ Công Hội), issued  by pastor Nguyễn Xuân Diệm. In 1925, the first church was built with bamboos. In 1954, missionary Kiều Toản and the chapter built a new church and inaugurated on June 19, 1955. In 1968, the church was collapsed during the war. On April 1992, missionary Trần Can was appointed as administer of the chapter. On June 1, 1994, the chapter held a stone-laying ceremony for the reconstruction of its church. The thanksgiving ceremony for the completion of church construction was organized on June 26, 1996. Currently, the Dai An chapter has about 700 followers, Hoa Huu and Dai Hong congregations and Thai Son, Dai Hung and Dai My meeting groups.
